PromoCell Growth Supplements are produced from bovine brain tissue exclusively originating from New Zealand and thus classified as BSE-free.The Growth Supplements are aqueous protein extracts from mixed-sex bovine pituitary glands (BPE) or hypothalami(ECGS and ECGS/H). They are especially useful for the cultivation of different types of primary human cells under serum-reduced or serum-free conditions. Bovine Pituitary Extract (BPE) -15 is standardized to a protein concentration of 7.5 mg/ml . For Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (NHEK) the optimal concentration of BPE-15 is 0.4% (v/v) in the medium supplemented with the appropriate growth factors and hormones
Quality Control: All lots of PromoCell Growth Supplements are subjected to comprehensive quality control tests. Each lot is routinely tested for its growth promoting activity using primary human cells, the absence of cytotoxicity, and physical parameters such as protein content. Approved inhouse lots are used as a reference. In addition, all lots of PromoCell Growth Supplements have been tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria and mycoplasma)
